This hand crafted Custom tenor Curly Maple Ukulele crafted by Les Rietfors, when played, shows its wonderful loud tone with well balanced acoustics. This ukulele sounds so sweet it sings and talks as it is played. This ukulele has high quality strings and is strung for low G tuning. the top is made from bear claw Sitka spruce book matched for additional appeal. The sound hole is accented by a b/w/b and another b//w/b then Abalone then b/w/b then One more ring of b/w/b Inlay. the edge of the top has plastic black binding protection a b/w/b/w/b/w/b purfling. The back is made of Curly Maple from our property in Bellingham Wash. that is book matched the edge of the back has black plastic bindings and is bordered by two strips of b/w/b/w/b purflings. The back has a three eights of a inch arch. The sides are made from the same cut of curly maple wood and carefully bent to form the distinct figure eight shape that is so familiar to ukulele lovers around the world.The neck is made from fine Honduran Mahogany wood. Covering the peg head is a sheet of curly maple wood. the peg head is inlayed with the Hawaiian flag the flag is made up of 7 different woods Milo, Mango, Pheasant wood , Purple Heart, Silver Oak, Iron wood, with ab/w/b out line around the flag . The heel cap on the neck is a piece of lace wood, matching the fingerboard. The tuning pegs are Grover 205 BC closed back machine tuners for a smooth feel. The gear ratio is 16 to 1. the fret board covering the neck is made of Lace wood. Paua Abalone shell position dots are placed at the 3rd, 5th,7th,10th and 12th frets. Duplicate Paua Abalone shell position dots are placed on the left side of the fret board for ease of playing. There are 14 frets to the body and with 20 total frets. The nut and saddle are made from hard bone material. This 4 string beautiful Curly Maple tenor ukulele is approximately 26 5/8 inches long, approximately 8 13/16 inches wide and approximately 3 5/8 inches deep including the bridge. The label is dated 03 /12 /2004 and the serial number is written 0703. The label is also signed by the builder Les Rietfors. The retail price for an ukulele of this quality in stores in Hawaii would be $2300.00. The price I am selling this ukulele is the wholesale price I sell it to the stores.
